Native Americans used this dog to hunt wild animals, and the Catahoula got its name from those tribes. The Catahoula Leopard is the official state dog of Louisiana. This dog is a loving and loyal companion. It needs plenty of exercise and a large fenced yard. It needs firm leadership and lots of walks and jogs. This dog should always be kept on a leash.
