20. Cane Corso
This dog is intelligent, territorial, and makes a good guard dog. The Cane Corso, a breed of mastiff native to Italy, is a heavy breed bred for big game hunting. It can weigh up to 120 pounds. Overall, this is not a breed for beginner owners. Even those who have successfully handled cooperative breeds such as retrievers and spaniels will not be able to compete with this strong, intelligent, active, and strong-willed dog.
The Cane Corso does not like strangers, even with consistent socialization - it is a guard dog through and through. Owners of Cane Corsos should walk or run at least one mile every day. In addition, 20 minutes of training may help this active dog relax a little. It is not recommended to take this strong, aggressive dog to the dog park. If left alone at home, the Cane will become very destructive and aggressive. The Cane Corso is a very loyal dog, devoted to its family, due to its protective and guardian nature.
