24. Jack Russell Terrier
The Jack Russell is a tenacious terrier breed. They dig, bark, jump, and hunt relentlessly. The Jack Russell Terrier (JRT) was bred to be a hunting dog. If the JRT is after prey, the yard and living room are fair play. Spiders and mice will be hunted to extinction, and your home will be clawed and dug up.
The JRT is prone to behavioral problems such as "small dog syndrome." They may have problems with temper, separation anxiety, obsessive barking, and vigilance. They are difficult to socialize and require consistent and firm training from a professional trainer. These dogs need lots of exercise and high fences. Climbing and jumping over fences is one of their specialties.
